Chaffee County hikers Matsuda and Donlon found dead after multi-day search
Two Colorado Mountain College students, Kaden Matsuda, 19, and Jackson Donlon, 20, were found dead on Wednesday afternoon in a basin near West Apostle Mountain in Chaffee County. The men had gone missing after a weekend hike intended for Ice Mountain. A multi-day search involving approximately 60 personnel, helicopters, and drones concluded with the discovery of their bodies around 3:30 p.m. Authorities do not suspect foul play, and an autopsy will determine the exact cause of death. The search was complicated by heavy snowfall and hazardous terrain, with the students' collapsed tent previously located near Lake Ann.
