Mexico's National Guard Enlists Chihuahua 'Comando' for Search-and-Rescue Training
Mexico's National Guard has integrated a 13-month-old Chihuahua named Comando into its canine unit, outfitting the 7kg dog with miniature tactical gear for search-and-rescue duties. While the force's canine division consists of roughly 350 dogs, mostly German Shepherds and Labradors, Comando is the first Chihuahua recruit. The dog, adopted from elderly owners in the northern state of Chihuahua, has already participated in the Independence Day parade and is now undergoing obstacle course training in Mexico City.
