US Navy Destroyer Targeted by Ballistic Missiles in Yemeni Attack
Two ballistic missiles were fired from Houthi rebel-controlled Yemen towards a US warship, the USS Mason, in the Gulf of Aden after the US Navy responded to a distress call from a commercial tanker, the Central Park, that had been seized by armed individuals. The USS Mason pursued and eventually apprehended the attackers. Later, two ballistic missiles were launched towards the USS Mason and the Central Park, but no damage or injuries were reported. The tanker, managed by Zodiac Maritime, was unharmed, and the crew and cargo were safe. The incident highlights the importance of maritime domain security and the need to ensure the safety of international shipping lanes.
