Three San Diego mosque guards hailed as heroes after gunmen attack
Three men — Amin Abdullah, Nadir Awad, and Mansour Kaziha — were killed defending the Islamic Center of San Diego as two teen gunmen stormed the mosque, saving about 140 people including children. Abdullah, a longtime security guard, exchanged fire and ordered a lockdown; Awad and Kaziha confronted the shooters outside, dying in the exchange. The victims are being remembered by the imam and fellow worshippers as heroes and pillars of the community.
