FBI Charges Washington Resident with Conspiracy for Aiding Canadian School Shooter
James Cody Bryant, a 30-year-old Washington state resident, was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder in a foreign country for allegedly assisting Jesse Van Rootselaar, the 18-year-old shooter responsible for the February 2026 Tumbler Ridge massacre in British Columbia. Federal prosecutors allege Bryant provided tactical advice, funds, and livestreaming support over a six-month period, despite having the opportunity to report the plot to authorities. The shooting, which killed eight people including five students and a teacher, is now one of the deadliest in Canadian history. While the shooter used ChatGPT to plan aspects of the attack, this new charge focuses on the human accomplice who allegedly helped execute the plan.
