US trims Africa visa processing to 20 hubs, reshaping regional access
The United States plans to cut Africa’s visa-processing footprint from about 50 embassies and consulates to 20 regional hubs, located in Abidjan, Accra, Addis Ababa, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Dakar, Dar es Salaam, Djibouti, Kampala, Kigali, Kinshasa, Lagos, Lome, Luanda, Malabo, Monrovia, Nairobi, Port Louis, Praia and Yaoundé. Neighboring countries could be required to travel to these hubs for interviews and biometrics, a move framed as greater efficiency under the Trump administration but critics warn of longer waits and higher travel costs for applicants.
