Disney's lawyers have filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit brought by a board appointed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, arguing that a new state law renders the lawsuit moot. DeSantis had attempted to abolish Disney's special tax district and replace the board with his own appointees, but the new board failed to object as the existing board entered legally binding contracts. Florida Republicans then passed a law barring the board from complying with the contracts, violating the Constitution's Contracts Clause. Disney's lawyers argue that the new law nullifies the board's lawsuit, leaving them with no basis for a legal challenge.
