Texas teen claims youngest-ever indoor 800m world title
Texas 17-year-old Cooper Lutkenhaus won the 800m at the World Indoor Championships in 1:44.24, becoming the youngest indoor world champion and finishing 0.14 seconds ahead of Belgium’s Eliott Crestan. The previous record was held by Mohammed Aman (18 years, 61 days in 2012). Lutkenhaus said his late surge stemmed from confidence, while Crestan praised his acceleration and suggested Lutkenhaus could be the future, as the USA led the medal table with six golds.
