Wimbledon's Rainy Challenge: Keeping the Grass Courts Dry
The court services crews at Wimbledon use a signal system to quickly cover the grass courts with tarps when rain is imminent. The crews, consisting of university students, work swiftly and in sync to protect the delicate grass and ensure play can continue. Despite the rain interruptions at this year's tournament, the crews have managed to keep the courts playable. In addition to covering the courts, the crews also assist players with various tasks and fulfill unique requests.
