ASO’s 2026 Tour de France TTT uses a new timing system: eight riders start together, but finish times are taken from each rider’s line time 19.6 km later, so the stage is won by the fastest individual rather than the team’s 4th/5th rider. The change forces teams to rethink leadouts, protect leaders, and tailor tactics to the course, with potential twin-leader strategies and late surges on Montjuïc.
