Cryptocurrency Market Experiences Volatility: Bitcoin Slides, Liquidations Increase
Bitcoin experienced a 7% slide to under $41,000 in volatile trading, following its December rally. The cryptocurrency dropped after reaching a high of $44,000 last week, with ether, Solana's SOL token, and Ripple's XRP also falling. Crypto equities, including Coinbase and MicroStrategy, were negatively impacted, along with bitcoin miners such as Riot Platforms and Marathon Digital. The pullback triggered liquidations, with $146 million in long liquidations for bitcoin and $100 million for ether.
