Fruit Gathering Clinches Grand Prix at Karlovy Vary 2026
At Karlovy Vary's 60th edition, Aung Phyoe's Fruit Gathering won the Grand Prix — Crystal Globe, while Mads Mengel's The Guest took the Special Jury Prize and Mengel was named Best Director; Juliette Binoche received the Crystal Globe for lifetime achievement and Jeffrey Wright the President's Award as the festival wrapped its double‑anniversary edition. In Proxima, Lover, Not a Fighter won the Grand Prix with Incinerator as Special Jury Prize, Efthimis Kosemund-Sanidis earning Best Director for A Whole Person Almost; Anna Schinz (A Happy Family) and Ghassan Saad (Pipes) won acting honors, The Lion at My Back won the Ecumenical Jury prize, and FIPRESCI awards went to Only Beautiful Things to Look at and Petty Thieves.
