India’s MeitY has asked Meta to immediately disable all paid Instagram ads and content that promote or facilitate access to child sexual exploitative material, and to provide a seven‑day detailed explanation of how such ads appeared, what safeguards failed, and what actions will be taken to prevent recurrence. Officials cited possible algorithmic amplification and stricter screening for paid promotions, while Meta reiterates zero tolerance and ongoing efforts to detect and block violating content.
