Google Chrome Security Flaw Fixed in Emergency Update.
Google has issued an emergency security update for its Chrome web browser to fix a zero-day vulnerability, CVE-2023-3079, that is being actively exploited. The vulnerability is a type confusion in the V8 JavaScript engine, which can allow attackers to execute arbitrary code on targeted machines by exploiting weaknesses in memory object handling. Users are advised to update their browsers and restart them after installation to activate the update. The vulnerability also affects other Chromium-based browsers, and updates have been rolled out for most of them.
