Richie O'Brien, a 41-year-old union steamfitter, died on September 27 after sustaining severe head trauma from a cyclist collision in Central Park on September 23. While walking to work, O'Brien was struck near 84th Street and placed in a coma. His family announced his death and confirmed he donated three organs. No arrests have been made, and the NYPD is investigating the incident.
