25 Years Later: Ex-Boyfriend Reveals Aaliyah Warned Him About Fatal Plane
On the 25th anniversary of Aaliyah’s death, ex-boyfriend Damon Dash revealed that the singer expressed fear about the aircraft that killed her. Dash told Us Weekly that Aaliyah texted him 'I don’t like the plane' before boarding a Cessna 402B from the Bahamas to Florida. Although Dash advised her not to fly, she boarded to return home after filming her 'Rock the Boat' video. The plane crashed less than a minute after takeoff on August 25, 2001, killing Aaliyah and eight others. Investigations later confirmed the pilot was unlicensed and under the influence of alcohol and cocaine, and the aircraft was significantly overloaded.
