Hundreds of activists storm Ridglan Farms, triggering arrests and tense police response
Hundreds of animal-rights activists, including DxE leaders, broke into Ridglan Farms in Blue Mounds on Saturday morning instead of the planned Sunday action. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office said 300–400 protesters attended; a pickup driver allegedly sped onto the property, and police used tear gas and less-lethal munitions as arrests were made. About 20 officers responded. The event follows a March 15 break-in at the same facility, which has faced state scrutiny over beagle breeding and cherry-eye procedures, and comes amid Ridglan’s licensing history and prior settlements. Activists framed the action as a protest for animal rights, while authorities warned it was not peaceful."
