
Dave Mason: Traffic co-founder and rock icon dies at 79
Dave Mason, the co-founder of Traffic and a prolific guitarist who also collaborated with Jimi Hendrix and a host of rock greats, has died aged 79 at his Nevada home. Mason helped shape Traffic with hits like Hole in My Shoe and Feelin’ Alright?, then forged a long solo career that yielded 15 albums, a platinum Let It Flow, and the 1977 hit We Just Disagree. His career spanned work with Hendrix, the Rolling Stones, Derek and the Dominos, Fleetwood Mac, George Harrison, and others, alongside ventures like the guitar maker RKS and a memoir published in 2024; he retired in 2025 after ill health.
