David Cole, a Republican representative in the Alabama House of Representatives, has resigned after being arrested on a felony charge of voting in an unauthorized place. Cole, who was elected in November 2021, was accused of not meeting the residency requirement for his district. He intends to plead guilty and has agreed to a plea deal that includes a three-year sentence, with 60 days in jail and the remainder on unsupervised probation. Cole's attorney stated that he takes full responsibility for his mistakes and will continue to serve his community.
