DC-area ground stop lifted after strong odor at FAA facility; delays ripple through airports
A ground stop at Reagan National, Dulles, and BWI, plus Charlottesville and Richmond area airports, was lifted after a strong chemical smell at the Potomac TRACON in Virginia traced to an overheated circuit board; no injuries were reported and controllers returned to the facility, but about 25%-33% of departures were delayed and ripple effects were expected to continue through the night.
