Fortitude DCP Theft Sparks $105 Million Netflix Lawsuit
Simon Afram and Op-Fortitude sue Netflix for at least $105 million, alleging that an unencrypted Digital Cinema Package for Nicolas Cage’s World War II film Fortitude was delivered to Netflix, with the company delaying pickup and telling the team to delete files, thereby destroying the film’s exclusivity and marketability. Netflix disputes bearing the risk of loss for an insecure delivery, says it is investigating and has offered piracy monitoring, and notes it does not own the rights to Fortitude. The case follows a previously settled related suit involving Martin Scorsese in 2024.
