Regional Banks on the Brink of S&P 500 Exclusion
Regional banks such as Zions and Comerica are at risk of being delisted from the S&P 500 index due to the stock selloff that has hit the sector this year. With market capitalizations of around $5 billion, these banks are among the smallest members of the index. The recent regional banking crisis has already caused changes in the composition of the S&P 500, and more changes may occur if the industry continues to face challenges. Companies that no longer qualify as large cap stocks are at a heightened risk of demotion from the index.
