Fearless 76-year-old Ukrainian returns home after 4000 km journey
Vira Chernukha, the 76-year-old sole resident of Dementiivka, a Ukrainian village bombed and depopulated by Russian invaders, has returned home after a 4,000-km odyssey across five countries. Despite the destruction and danger, she remains unafraid and determined to rebuild her life in the village. Chernukha recalls waking up in a hospital in Russia after the bombing and spending months trying to return home. She now tends to her damaged yard and a monument to fallen Ukrainian soldiers, stating that she is no longer afraid and has lived her life.
