"Revolutionary Liquid Prevents 80% of Cavities in Kids"
A study led by researchers at NYU College of Dentistry has found that silver diamine fluoride (SDF) is as effective as dental sealants in preventing tooth decay among over 4,000 elementary school students, offering a less expensive and quicker application process. SDF, a promising alternative treatment, not only prevents cavities but also represents a significant cost-saving measure that can increase access to dental care, particularly in school-based cavity prevention programs. The study suggests that SDF could be a valuable addition to existing cavity prevention methods and that nurses, including school nurses, could play a crucial role in providing this preventive care.
