Firefox Struggles on Desktop Linux, Says OSnews
Desktop Linux distributions heavily rely on Firefox as their default browser, but Firefox's market share has been declining, and it is not considered a first-tier platform by Mozilla. The Linux version of Firefox has lagged behind in features and support, such as hardware video acceleration, compared to its Windows and macOS counterparts. The main concern is that if Firefox's market share continues to decline and its funding from Google diminishes, the Linux version may face cuts or even be discontinued. To mitigate this problem, stakeholders in the Linux desktop community should consider investing in and tailoring a browser engine specifically for Linux, independent of Google and Apple.
