Manchester United cruised to a 4-0 victory over Sabah in their first Champions League game in nearly three years, with Sesko scoring on his first start of the season and Dorgu deputising at left-back, delivering a key cross for Cunha’s opener and contributing further attacks as United kept a clean sheet aided by a late Lisandro Martínez strike and a Bruno Fernandes goal.
Bruno Fernandes’s 21st Premier League assist broke Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne’s record, but the moment sparked debate after Patrick Dorgu’s header clattered the crossbar and hit Bart Verbruggen’s glove. Opta initially logged a Dorgu goal, and the Premier League’s Goal Accreditation Panel upheld that decision, leaving Fernandes’s landmark intact. Fernandes paid tribute to Henry and De Bruyne, who had set the standard, while Henry publicly praised him and joked at Fernandes’s expense; De Bruyne has not commented. The episode underscores ongoing questions about how assists and goals are counted in the league.
Manchester United came from behind to beat Arsenal 3-2 at the Emirates, with Mbeumo levelling, Dorgu’s decisive strike, and Cunha’s late winner, after Arsenal had taken the lead via a Lisandro Martinez own goal and were undone by a late spell of mislaid composure. Carrick’s interim spell already looks transformative, redeploying Dorgu effectively and boosting United’s countering threat, while Arsenal’s sloppy moments cost them as their title lead was trimmed to four points with 15 games left.
