Dr. Peter Marks, the director of the FDA's Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, plans to space out his COVID-19 booster and flu shot vaccinations over the coming weeks, opting to get the COVID shot right away and the flu shot in early October. While the CDC allows for the simultaneous administration of multiple vaccines, Marks believes spacing them out can minimize side effects and potential interactions. He also mentioned the possibility of offering an additional COVID-19 dose to vulnerable groups later in the fall and winter. Marks plans to get his flu shot in early October, as the protection offered by flu vaccines can wane over time. Additionally, new options for immunization against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) are available for older adults and infants.
