Shaq Confirms Marvel Rejected Him for MCU Roles Due to 'Too Big' Recognition
NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal has confirmed that Marvel Studios rejected his repeated requests to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, specifically for an 'Avengers' film. In an exclusive interview with Variety, O'Neal stated that studio executives told him his fame made him unrecognizable as a fictional character, claiming audiences would only see 'Shaq' rather than the role. This rejection follows his previous appearance in the 1997 film 'Steel.' O'Neal has since shifted his focus to other projects, including a cameo in 'Scary Movie' and a potential action film with Dwayne Johnson, while promoting his new professional dunking league, 'Dunkman,' which offers a $500,000 grand prize.
