New Stone Brewing ownership shifts production, triggering Escondido layoffs
Stone Brewing’s Escondido operations are being wound down after Sapporo USA sold the brand to Firestone Walker and Duvel Moortgat USA, with production moving to Firestone Walker’s Paso Robles facility and Duvel’s Kansas City facility, prompting about 220 layoffs (58 starting Oct. 19) and the wind-down of the Escondido site’s operations, in what’s part of a broader Southern California business shake-up that also includes Bumble Bee Foods’ Santa Fe Springs plant closure.
