The FDA has approved Duvyzat (givinostat) as the first nonsteroidal medication to treat Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) in patients aged six and older, regardless of genetic mutation. Duvyzat, an oral histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor, aims to reduce inflammation and muscle loss. Its efficacy was demonstrated in a phase 3 study, showing significant improvement in muscle function and physical ability compared to placebo.
