NATO Allies Bolster Poland's Eastern Frontier
Poland's East Shield defense program is expanding with U.S., British and French troops joining German engineers to fortify about 800 kilometers of Poland's northern and eastern borders against Russia and Belarus. Funded in part by the EU SAFE mechanism, the effort aims to deter adversaries and improve rapid movement along the frontier, and includes plans for long-range capabilities dubbed Eastern Sword as part of a broader allied defense project through 2028.
