Sri Lanka Court Sentences 15 to 220 Years for 2019 Easter Bombings
A Sri Lankan high court has concluded a five-year trial regarding the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings, sentencing 15 men to at least 220 years in prison each. The coordinated attacks killed approximately 270 people and injured over 500. While the convictions provide partial closure for victims' families, they do not resolve ongoing investigations into alleged state involvement by former intelligence chief Suresh Sallay and the Rajapaksa family.
