BlizzCon 2026 Merch and Game Editions Face Severe Scalping Crisis
BlizzCon 2026 has become a hotspot for extreme scalping, with limited-edition merchandise and game bundles selling for multiples of their retail price on secondary markets. The World of Warcraft: Forever Collector’s Edition, priced at $150, sold out within seconds of multiple restocks, leading to online resale prices far exceeding the original cost. In-game pet codes obtained through complex, multi-step events at the Darkmoon Faire are fetching up to $600 on eBay. Critics argue that Blizzard’s design choices, including artificial scarcity and lax purchase restrictions, inadvertently facilitate this market.
