Reds Promote Edwin Arroyo as De La Cruz Lands on IL with Hamstring Strain
The Reds placed Elly De La Cruz on the 10-day IL with a right hamstring strain and recalled top infield prospect Edwin Arroyo from Triple-A Louisville for his MLB debut, while designating Yunior Marte for assignment and promoting Brandon Leibrandt. De La Cruz has been having a breakout season, and Arroyo—22, a switch-hitter hitting .323/.383/.562 in Triple-A with 11 homers—could provide an immediate spark in Cincinnati as De La Cruz rehabs.
