Orioles lose Eflin to Tommy John, out for season
Zach Eflin underwent UCL reconstruction (Tommy John) surgery for the Orioles, ending his season and likely sidelining him through at least the first half of 2027 after he left his season debut with elbow discomfort; a re-examination confirmed ligament damage. The 32-year-old veteran, who signed a one-year, $10 million deal with Baltimore last offseason, will hit the open market next winter as the Orioles lean on a rotation anchored by Rogers, Bradish, Baz and Bassitt, with Cade Povich likely getting a look as a fifth starter while Eflin rehabs.
