Pediatrician Idris Evans killed in Edgewood home attack; suspect Hemingway faces homicide charges
Dr. Idris Evans, a 46-year-old pediatric critical care physician at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, was fatally stabbed in his Edgewood home early Thursday morning. His wife was critically injured but stable. Police arrested 32-year-old Elijah Hemingway nearby after he was found with hand lacerations. Hemingway faces charges including criminal homicide and burglary. Investigators are determining if the suspect knew the victim or broke in at random, as conflicting accounts exist regarding the suspect's entry and the nature of the altercation.
