Siberian Lab Worker Death Sparks Plague Quarantine and Cover-Up Allegations
A 28-year-old laboratory assistant at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Institute died after being exposed to Yersinia pestis, triggering a quarantine of the Shelekhov district hospital and medical observation for nearly 200 contacts. While officials confirmed the death, they have not officially specified the strain, leading to accusations of a cover-up by independent media and epidemiologists.
