Maple Leafs' Michael Bunting Suspended 3 Games for High Hit on Lightning's Cernak.
Michael Bunting has been suspended for three games by the NHL Department of Player Safety for an illegal check to the head and interference against Erik Cernak during Game 1 of the Eastern Conference First Round. As a result, he will not play for the Toronto Maple Leafs against the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 2. The Maple Leafs have lost in the first round in each of the past six seasons and have not won a series in the Stanley Cup Playoffs since 2004. Matthew Knies, a second-round pick by the Maple Leafs in the 2021 NHL Draft, could make his Stanley Cup Playoffs debut in Game 2.
