Violent Standoff in Kosovo Ends with Multiple Casualties
Kosovo police have entered the village of Banjska in northern Kosovo to secure and search the area following a shootout between police and ethnic Serb gunmen. The gunmen had stormed a Serbian Orthodox monastery before being retaken by the police. Three attackers and one police officer were killed in the incident. Tensions have been high in the region, with ethnic Serbs in the north of Kosovo rejecting the country's declaration of independence and demanding more autonomy. Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has accused Serbia of financing and sending armed men to Kosovo, while Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has denied the allegations and blamed Kurti for inciting violence.
