TikTok and Twitter under fire for spreading Israel-Hamas disinformation
EU officials have warned TikTok about the presence of "illegal content and disinformation" related to the Israel-Hamas war on its platform, urging the CEO to respond within 24 hours or face penalties. This comes after similar warnings were sent to Twitter and Meta. The recently passed EU law, Digital Services Act, requires social media companies to protect user privacy and safety. TikTok has been accused of spreading graphic videos and misleading content during the ongoing conflict.
