"EU-Turkey migrant deal revamped, prioritizing families and children"
Greece wants to expand and revamp the EU-Turkey migrant deal, as the current agreement is not working effectively. The deal, reached in 2016, aimed to return undocumented migrants from Turkey to the Greek islands. However, Turkey has not been accepting the return of these individuals. Greek Interior Minister Dimitrios Kairidis expressed the need for improved cooperation and border control, including the inclusion of controls at the land border. The EU could also consider visa liberalization for Turkish citizens and provide additional funding for the deal.
