"Surge in Migrant Interceptions: Over 600 Caught in Senegal in Just Three Days"
The Senegalese navy has intercepted over 600 migrants attempting to reach Europe in just three days, as the busy summer season sees thousands of migrants risking their lives to cross the Atlantic Ocean. The navy has stepped up its rescue operations against illegal migrants, intercepting a total of 1,955 since July 1. The dangerous journey to Europe, particularly to the Canary Islands, has claimed the lives of 140 migrants so far this year. In response, the Senegalese government has unveiled a 10-year plan to combat irregular migration, focusing on border management, law enforcement, and repatriation efforts.
