Honda exits its only US EV as it pivots to hybrids
Honda confirmed it will discontinue the Prologue after the 2026 model year, leaving the US with no all‑electric Honda offerings as it pivots to hybrids. The Prologue, built on GM's Ultium platform, briefly ranked among top EV sellers but has declined, and Honda previously scrapped plans for next‑gen EVs (0 Series, a sedan, and the Acura RSX). The Ohio EV hub will instead produce hybrids and gas vehicles; current Prologue owners will continue to receive service, parts, and warranty. Honda projects EV‑related costs around ¥2.5 trillion ($15.7B) with EV losses of about ¥1.45 trillion ($9.2B).
