Marcye Scott, daughter of the late Rep. David Scott, led the July special election for Georgia’s 13th District but lost the runoff to Everton Blair, who will fill the remainder of Scott’s term through January. Blair will then face Jasmine Clark (D) vs. Republican Jonathan Chavez in November for the full term starting in January 2027, with district offices continuing to assist constituents in the interim.
NBC News projects Everton Blair won the Georgia 13th District special election runoff to serve the remainder of Rep. David Scott’s term, defeating Scott’s daughter Marcye. Blair campaigned on progressive policies including a wealth tax, Medicare for All, universal childcare and Green New Deal–style investments, while Marcye framed the race as a continuation of her father’s legacy. The district remains deep-blue, with Jasmine Clark having won the regular primary and seen as the favorite in November; Blair’s win is unlikely to alter the House balance.
