
"Evika Siliņa Takes Office as Latvia's New Prime Minister with Parliament's Approval"
Evika Siliņa, a member of Latvia's New Unity party, has been approved as the country's new prime minister following the resignation of former Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš. The new government will be a three-party coalition and will control 52 out of 100 seats in parliament. Kariņš will remain in government as the minister of foreign affairs. Siliņa is the second woman to become prime minister of Latvia. Congratulations have been received from European leaders, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
