Volvo pivots EV lineup: EX40 exits the U.S. stage as EX50 looms
Volvo is dropping the EX40 from the U.S. lineup, while Europe keeps selling a refreshed EX40/EC40; a new EX50 on the SPA3 platform will replace the EX40, EX60, and EX30 in the U.S., expected by late 2027 with a starting price under $50,000. The EX50 is slated to offer OTA updates, faster charging, longer range, and upgraded safety tech, and Europe gets design tweaks and a larger 11.2-inch touchscreen with Gemini AI in the refreshed EX40.
