Iranian official vows Hormuz closure until US withdrawal; Tehran sets terms for ending war
Former IRGC commander Mohsen Rezaei, now on Iran’s Expediency Council, warned that the Strait of Hormuz “will not reopen” unless the United States withdraws from the Persian Gulf, and said Tehran would only end the war after receiving full compensation for damages and a 100% guarantee against future threats. He argued regional security should be managed by Gulf states themselves, signaling a tougher Tehran stance as tensions escalate, a broader push that included Iranian officials linking the crisis to US-Israeli actions and asserting Iran’s growing power post-conflict.
