Revolutionary Device Sustains Brain Independently of the Body
Researchers at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center have developed a method to keep a brain alive and functioning for several hours without being connected to the body. Using a device called the extracorporeal pulsatile circulatory control (EPCC), the team successfully maintained normal brain function in two pigs for five hours.
