Russian Airlines Flouting Safety Regulations with Expired Parts and US Tech Despite Sanctions
Russian airlines performed 2,000 flights on Western aircraft with expired parts last year due to sanctions, according to federal transportation authorities. Unscheduled inspections revealed a shortage of components and significant delays with deliveries, leading to concerns about flight safety. However, major airlines denied using expired parts, and the head of state transportation watchdog Rostransnadzor maintained that 2022 was recognized as the safest year in flight safety over the past five years despite the sanctions.
