Annapolis Fire Marshal Confirms HVAC Work Caused Fatal Cape St. Claire Propane Explosion
The Anne Arundel County Fire Department has concluded its investigation into the August 20 explosion at a Cape St. Claire home, determining it was accidental. A 76-year-old homeowner inadvertently cut a propane line while working on the HVAC system, allowing gas to accumulate. A metal grinder used during the repair provided the spark that ignited the gas, killing Linda Synowczynski and critically injuring the homeowner.
